Your first therapy session is an opportunity for your therapist to get to know you.
You'll talk about what brought you to therapy, your personal history, current challenges, relationships, and what you'd like to feel different in your life.
You don't have to share everything immediately, and you don't need to arrive with a perfectly organized explanation of what you're experiencing.
Therapy is collaborative, and we'll work together to establish goals and determine what support looks like for you.
-
You're not alone. Sometimes therapy doesn't feel helpful because the therapist, approach, timing, or treatment goals weren't the right fit.
Our therapists understand that different people need different things. You might benefit from practical coping skills, deeper exploration of childhood experiences, trauma processing, relationship work, or a combination of approaches.
We'll work with you to understand what hasn't worked in the past and explore what might be different this time.
-
We meet with the majority of our clients on a weekly basis. We ask that all new clients commit to meeting weekly for at-least the first month. This will allow us to start off on a strong foot, so you can start seeing progress right away. We may recommend that we increase or decrease the frequency of sessions to best meet your needs.
-
Our approach is collaborative and person centered so there is no one set of sessions needed. Many of our clients find that they’ve met their goals in 3-6 months and no longer need therapy. Other clients who choose to remain in therapy for much longer; they have seen improvements and still really enjoy having ongoing support and a place to process their thoughts and feelings each week.
