Life can feel exhausting and overwhelming when you’re trying to navigate through big life transitions, relationships, a messy childhood, and everything in between.

It doesn’t have to stay this way. Our team of dedicated therapists are here to help you break old patterns, heal deeply, and finally create the balance and peace you deserve. You don’t have to do this alone, let’s start today.

Struggling with anxiety and depression? Trauma informed and LGBTQ therapists for virtual therapy in California.

We are so glad you’re here.

Welcome to Balance and Bloom Family Therapy. Our mission is to provide trauma-informed and comprehensive therapy through empowering individuals, couples, & families. We bring authenticity into every session because it is so important to be able to trust and relate to your therapist. It is such a privilege to get to know you on the deepest level, celebrate your strengths, sit with you while you’re in the trenches, and walk with you on your healing journey.

We know first-hand that therapy works because we have all been on the receiving end and continue to do the work. We are 100% committed to your growth, in whatever way that looks like and are intentional about the time we have together each week. Our approach is collaborative, empowering, and relatable because at the end of the day you want your therapist to get it.

We have therapists that are trained in EMDR, EFT, IFS, Gottman Couples Therapy, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, CBT, DBT, and Narrative Therapy and have unique skills to help you along in your healing journey.

Our Therapists Specialize in

Mental Health Concerns

  • We provide specialized therapy using evidence based modalities to help you safely work through painful memories. As those memories lose their hold, symptoms like flashbacks and hypervigilance can ease, allowing room for healing, resilience, and moving forward.

  • We help you navigate excessive worry, panic attacks, and fears with practical, evidence-based tools that calm the nervous system and build confidence. Our goal is to help you challenge anxiety, feel more grounded, and regain a greater sense of peace and control in your everyday life.

  • We provide compassionate support for those carrying the weight of depression. Together, we work to understand the deeper roots of your sadness while building effective coping strategies that can help restore energy, hope, and a renewed sense of possibility.

  • We provide a supportive, compassionate space to heal your relationship with food and body image. Our therapists help explore the underlying emotional patterns that can fuel disordered eating, guiding clients toward recovery, self-trust, and greater self-acceptance.

  • Neurodiversity-affirming care accepts and respects natural differences in how people think, feel, and relate. Instead of trying to “fix” someone, it focuses on unmasking, strengths, sensory needs, and advocacy to help you thrive.

  • Whether you're preparing to say "I do" or trying to figure out why you keep having the same fight on repeat, you're in the right place. Our therapists work with couples and individuals to untangle the patterns that get in the way of real connection: communication breakdowns, lack of intimacy, unhealthy relational dynamics, and the weight of unspoken expectations.

  • Navigating life in a new country (or between two of them) is its own kind of grief that nobody tells you about. We address the loneliness, the identity questions, and the pressure to assimilate while holding onto who you are. Our therapists work with immigrants, first-gen individuals, and bicultural families to process the stress of uncertainty, the complexity of belonging, cultural expectations, and the very real weight of building a life in a place that doesn't always feel like home yet.

  • Religious trauma doesn't always have a name but it has a feeling.

Whether you are navigating religion or have left a certain religion, were here for you. You may feel shame that follows you everywhere. Worth that always felt conditional. Rules that shaped how you see yourself, your body, your relationships. Our therapists work with people untangling all of it. They offer a space where there is no agenda, no judgment, just space to figure out what's actually true for you.

Populations

  • Teens are carrying more than most adults realize. Our therapists give them somewhere to put it down for a while, to help them understand how they are feeling, and how to navigate the big stuff.

  • You've been holding it together for a long time. The burnout, the overthinking, the relationships that keep hitting the same walls. The version of you that's exhausted from performing or trying to please everyone. Our therapists work with adults who are high-functioning on the outside and running on empty on the inside and ready to finally understand their patterns, quiet the noise, and come back to themselves.

  • You don't have to be falling apart to come to couples therapy. You just have to care enough to show up and try. Our therapists help you find your way back to each other and build something worth staying in.

  • Families are complicated.

Whether you're a parent wondering if you're getting it wrong, a family that can't seem to stop having the same fight, an adult child who wants to try and rebuild with a parent, or everyone's just trying to survive a really hard season, our therapists work with families in the messy middle. We help you actually hear each other, break the cycles that got handed down, and figure out how to show up for each other without losing yourself in the process.

It's not too late to do it differently.

  • Whether you're navigating identity, leaning into a more authentic self, navigating growth or parenting as an LGBTQ+ family, or just trying to find a therapist who actually gets your life, you're in the right place. Our therapists specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients who are done explaining the basics and ready to do the real work.

  • Racial trauma is real. So is the weight of navigating spaces that don’t support you, or the tension between who your family or society needs you to be and who you actually are. Our therapists work with BIPOC clients who are done shrinking, explaining, and starting over with someone who just doesn't get it.

You deserve a space where your full experience is already welcome.

  • The long and sometime unpredictable days, deployments, the moves, the reintegration, the identity that gets built around service and performance and the families that are expected to just adapt. Our therapists work with the full military community, because the weight of this life doesn't just land on one person.

For service members and veterans: Whether you're navigating active duty, the transition out, carrying things you haven't said out loud, or just trying to feel like yourself again you don't have to do it alone.

For military spouses and families: The invisible load is real. The loneliness, the expected resilience, the emotional labor, and the relationships that need tending after everything you've survived together.. we see you too.

You've taken care of everyone else. You're allowed to take care of yourself too.

  • The mental load, the roles, the expectations you've internalized so deeply you forgot they weren't yours to begin with. Our therapists work with women navigating burnout, identity, motherhood, relationships, body image, hormones, and beyond.

Treatment Modalities

  • EMDR is an evidence based therapy that helps your brain actually process with experiences or beliefs that have been stuck, not just understand it. Our therapists use EMDR with clients working through trauma, anxiety, childhood wounds, and the patterns that keep showing up no matter how much insight you already have.

  • EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) gets underneath the arguments, the distance, the walls, to the attachment needs driving all of it. Our therapists use EFT to help couples and families break out of the cycles they're stuck in and actually reconnect, not just communicate better on the surface.

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) helps you catch the patterns in your thinking that are keeping you stuck, the spirals, the worst-case scenarios, the stories you've told yourself so long you stopped questioning them. Our therapists use CBT to help clients build real, practical tools for anxiety, depression, and the everyday noise that makes everything harder.

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems) is the idea that we all have different parts of ourselves, the one that people-pleases, the one that shuts down, the one that's never felt good enough, and every single one of them developed for a reason. Our therapists use IFS to help you get curious about those parts instead of fighting them, so you can finally access the version of you that's been there (and so strong and wise!!) all along.

  • KAP (Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy) combines the neurological effects of ketamine with the depth of real therapeutic work, creating a window for the kind of breakthroughs that can feel out of reach in traditional talk therapy. Sydney works alongside clients using KAP to process trauma, depression, anxiety and stuck beliefs and access parts of themselves that have been hard to reach.

  • Narrative therapy helps you separate who you are from the problem, and take a hard look at whose version of your life you've actually been living. Our therapists use narrative therapy to help clients rewrite the narratives rooted in shame, family systems, and experiences that were never theirs to carry in the first place.

  • Gottman Couples Therapy is an evidence based therapy modality for couples built on decades of studying what actually makes relationships work. Our therapists use Gottman to help couples understand their cycles, rebuild trust, and create the kind of connection that holds up under real life.

Check to see if you have Out-Of-Network Benefits!

Balance & Bloom Therapy is not an in-network provider with any insurance companies.

However, did you know your insurance might still help cover the cost of therapy, even if we are not in-network? Many plans offer out-of-network benefits, which means you could get reimbursed for a portion of each session through Mentaya.

If you have OON benefits, use the Mentaya benefits checker to see if you are eligible.

It’s a great tool to use your benefits while still seeing the provider you choose, even if they don’t directly take your insurance.
